Currently our favorite:
Banff, Alberta, Canada

After a day in Ft Steele having a maintenance day: laundry and cleaning we made our way through the mountains to Banff. We stayed in Tunnel Mountain Trailer Court. It has something like 600 plus spots. It was very nice and we would do that again, in fact we will in September. We had 30 amp service and the satellite worked, no WiFi.

The easy drive into town was delightful. There was a trail one could walk in 4 miles. There was also a free shuttle. We enjoyed Banff Ave Brewing Co.. The beer was cold and the WiFi worked well.

The first morning we drove to Lake Louise and took an almost 8 mile hike to the Lake Agnes Tea House and Large Beehive. Wowza this hike went straight up a mountain. The views were epic. We loved it.

In the pic below you can make out the Fairmont Chateau on Lake Louise.

The second day we were so sore from the first hike we said “let’s take a flat hike”. We tried going to Lake Moraine but the parking was full so we went back to Lake Louise at 8am. We took another short hike straight up a mountain to a lookout.
That is the Fairmont Chateau.

There is a trail that is flat alongside the lake so we headed in that direction. When we got to the end the trail went slightly uphill and around a corner, we said “what the heck, let’s go see where it goes”.

We kept doing/saying that and pretty soon we walked 5 miles straight up a mountain. The trail went through forests, large patches of snow, up rocky gravel paths and past beautiful wild flowers.

We made it to the Tea House and had a lovely snack of biscuits and hot chocolate.

I blocked out a person who got in this pic.The young people who work at this tea house hike up once a week and stay for 5 nights. Then they go back down the mountain for 2 nights. This goes on all summer.
