Whitehorse

We spent 3 nights in Whitehorse at Hi Country RV Park. We like it there. It's a bit tight but has trees, fair cable TV, fair WiFi and  a very nice laundry room.

Miles Canyon was a 5mile drive away, the Yukon River gets very narrow and the water was a beautiful blue green. Some local kids were actually getting a bit wet. Eeek.
This suspension bridge goes to the other side where there were many trails. We didn't hike that day.

We took a drive to Skagway, same as last time. The scenery is just beautiful.

One cruise ship in port along with a ferry.
We enjoyed using the AT&T and checking email.
Found a bar with cold beer and watched the tourist.

We went through Carcross and this tiny desert in the middle of the forests.
The Carcross Desert is commonly referred to as a desert, but is actually a series of northern sand dunes. The area's climate is too humid to be considered a true desert. The sand was formed during the last glacial period, when large glacial lakes formed and deposited silt. When the lakes dried, the dunes were left behind. Today, sand comes mainly from nearby Bennett Lake, carried by wind. The dunes contain a wide variety of plants, including unusual varieties such as Baikal sedge and Yukon lupine, among others.

The Klondike Rib and Salmon Restaurant is very good and we enjoyed it twice because the Mexican place we were going to try is closed on Monday. Drats.
We also visited the fish ladder that goes around a dam. The salmon won't be running for another month but it was cool to look at.
