Dogs are evil!!
* warning, graphic pictures*
Okay, perhaps not all dogs but the one that bit Les is evil.
Les went over to a neighboring RV, some people from Kingman Az. and So. Cal. There were two dogs, a nice chocolate  lab, and a boxer that ended up being vicious. Les was following the owner to the front of the RV, when the boxer went nuts and grabbed Les on the forearm. There was a lot of blood and the first aid started. The dogs owner(Terry) drove us into Watson Lake(12 miles) where there is a small hospital. We went into the E.R. and were taken inside pretty quickly- not much else happening in the middle of nowhere today.
Terry had all of the dogs records with him, and the Dr. inspected them before treating the wounds. Because Canada has socialized medicine, residents do not pay for services, but boy howdy do they charge US citizens!! No US insurance is accepted, and the total bill for the E.R, prescriptions, and Doctors fees, was $2100 Canadian. Terry payed all the bills, basically because we think he doesn't want to get sued or have his dog taken away. Our observations indicate that this is not the first time Terry has been through this.

That is not Bud Light in the IV unfortunately.

A pretty good gash, and two deep punctures

9 stitches, the punctures couldn't be stitched. 10 days of antibiotics because dog bites sometimes get infected. The stitches were put in relatively loose just case an infection occurs, so it can seep. Now we just wait for it to heal so that Nancy can remove the stitches- the Dr. gave her a crash course before we left.

Les is healing beautifully it hasn't slowed him down at all. He won't let me help him do anything.

  1. Wow, that is some wound! Wonder what the heck is up with that dog. Lucky I guess, it could have been worse. Take care of that wound

  2. Hey Carol, yes it was a good sized gash. The stitches come out today. He says it doesn't hurt so that's good.
